Best Video Player GUI

This is the video player I use most consistently on my iPhone. What great skins!

Pretty good

I have an older version which works better. No way Im upgrading; theres a licence dispute going on and if you upgrade you lose a codec. The only issue I have is playing large MKV files over wifi. The Samsung tv works just fine but 8player locks up.

Inconsistent

I was suckered into buying this app after 8player lite worked without flaws. After purchasing, 8player struggled to find my server about 95% of the time. When its able to find my server, its a great app. Sadly, this happens few and far between. I really wish I could get my money back.

great app!!!

I really like this app, it works well with media tomb upnp server on ubuntu. it also plays media that my PS3 wont play.

Codec litigation, dont buy

This worked perfectly for me; until an upgrade few months ago where they stopped supporting many codec because of legal issues. This is no longer a viable iPad player as youll spend lots of energies just converting files to a supported format.

Works well for audio and video

Using windows media player as a server it plays all my ripped CD collection of mp3s. The latest update also plays all the AVI videos I have too! Although some people have complained that it no longer handles certain video file audio formats because of licensing issues, I have yet to encounter this problem. Test with the Lite version against your video collection to see if this is likely to be an issue for you. Amazingly quick and helpful replies to tech support emails too! One minor criticism: Needs more diagnostics or help if it cant connect to a UPNP sever. (you have to remember to allow sharing by the specific device in Windows Media Player before it will connect ). Interface is easy to use but not obvious when setting up. Obviously test with the free lite version first and be aware that windows media player wont serve up formats it doesnt understand, even if this app can play them. A recent update introduced a bug that affects playing Internet RSS audio streams from TVersity Media Server 2.3. Upgrading to TVersity 2.4 cures the problem, so presumably it is an issue triggered by a TVersity bug.

Player

Was a great player,as everyones has said, but through updates functionalities being disabled making it half the player of the past. Thats what I hate about updating apps, they all change their apps by adding crap and disabling functions.

Still no AVI

Not much more to say… used to be there when I bought it.

Worthless now.

I purchased this player back in 2011 when it came out because it was playing all formats on my NAS, MKV, AVI... Now it doesnt anymore because of legal issues. This is not my problem, Im not getting what I paid for anymore, it would be only fair to be refunded all or part of the payment as the player is nowhere near what it was when I paid for it, its useless to me. Luckily I had a version 2.8 saved and That still supports everything!

Very Disappointed

I wanted to watch movies from XBMC on my phone and tried the "lite"version which seemed to work well so I bought the full version despite the relative high price. Within a few months they pulled one of the video codecs in an update and suddenly half my movies would not play. Apparently they were not entitled to use the codec and removed it in an update. They should have done their research before advertising features. Normally you get features when you update but this rendered the app practically useless for me. Several updates later its completely unreliable - playing about 10 seconds of a show then kicking me back to the menu screen. As far as Im concerned, I should get my money back because they somewhat crippled the app after I tested it and bought it. This was a big waste of money for me. I hope others had better luck, but from my experience, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

No sound

Great looking app and easy to use! I look forward to the 3G play back. However mkvs play no sound. Until this is fixed my purchase is useless.

Doesnt play everything

Save your money doesnt play 85 % of stuff seems only to play mkv files.

Works well for me, but it leaves my NAS open

I am using it to remotely stream my music from my home NAS with serviio when I am in my car. This app integrates with the iOS audio controls, which is key when I take a phone call - the music resumes after the call. Other players are not integrated and it is too cumbersome to restart the music (ie Airplayer). I would score this app better if it used serviios APIs to adopt its security features. Currently you have to open a port on your firewall and expose your entire library to the Internet. A lazy way to support remote media streaming.

Not happy

I can only see 2 out of 30 folders, and the videos that show up, I cant play 80% of them (getting an Initialization Error). Dont waste your money.

Crashes regularly

Only works occasionally. Updates dont seem to help. Frustrating.

Pretty sweet

Very nice app. Had a similar app that doesnt run as smoothly as this one. Setting it up through provider a bit tricky but once complete runs beautifully. Great job!!!

From Great to Awful

This was a great app that continually gets worse with every upgrade. Loss of Codec support even though it says it supports them in description and now it crashes continually. I will be searching for a new vendor for my IPAD media streaming.

Awesome app!!!

this app works perfectly and looks beautiful. It also supports more file formats than most apps. I highly recomend this app!!!

Best DLNA/Upnp player

Works better then described, wasted money on other apps this does it all.

Nice App !!!

I really like this app as I mainly download movies from computer over wifi and the app convert on the fly to fit with the iphone. There are 2 things that coul be improved though : 1- Download process sometimes fails even if the signal is strong enough. 2- When I want to switch to Music from the remote it does not work anymore. It used to work before I upgraded to IOS 7. Otherwise nice app!
