Super

Ac3 and all dijital sound and videos are supperted but there is problem with the speed of the wifi this could be my personal problem too but hey if you want a real dlna program this is it

They removed codecs after purchase

I paid for the app then they removed mkv sound file codecs, now it doesnt play the sounds of movies!

It was Best DLNA app ever.

After last upgrade and codeca removed it is useless. Plays every Movie in VLC. You can do it directly in VLC without wasting money on 8 player. Sorry. That was my last review which is unfortunately outdated: "Great app. Works flawlessly with minidlna on Linux and Samsung TV. It misses only some kind of "last watched" or history."

Reads everything, needs minor features

Great video player! Works well with any moviemI have on my dlna-enabled network disk. Minor features to add: bullets to show not yet seen movies. Meta data about movies while navigating them. Shortcuts to preferred folders Would love these, and will give 5 stars for them!

it works

I broadcast any kind of movie via my Ubuntu 11.04 server using Rygel. It works fine on my iPad 3.

Was excellent until last update

Does not support some audio codecs since lat update, everithing was jus perfect before that! Im really disappointed, I hope this is going to be solved soon, othewise I will look for some other player.

Killer app!!!

---------------------------------------------------------------- Fantastic app. Works with any DLNA server to watch videos. Can also be used to control other DLNA clients (like smart TVs). Can play any video format I encountered. Plays smooth and good. Plays well music and photos. You can have music in background and slide show simultaneously. Act like a digital frame with multi TB storage space. Works perfectly with go-flex satellite external wifi hard disk. So it can be used to play videos in car (useful for kids and long trips) with 500 GB storage space. Good sw assistance: I made them aware of a small bug... Solved in the next upgrade in a short time. Id give 6 stars if possible.

Unfair

Find a solution for the codecs!

It doesnt work with some video files

Codecs not available for some video formats

the best dlna player

I tried all players supporting DLNA streaming, and this is far the best one! Works flawlessly with every kind of video and audio codecs, 1080p MKVs are fluid (using 5GHz N band). With other players many DivXs didnt play well, also without audio. With 8player no problem at all. Very good work!

Bug in the opening animation

Theres a white background and a black big rectangular in the middle of it. Pretty horrible to see

Great app.

Great app. Sometimes it suddenly halts when downloading but even so its pretty cool to listen directly from my storage using dlna and also locally after download. I recommend .

Overall a great player, A little buggy playing music in the background

This is a full-featured, easy to use media player. It works great with any DLNA or UPNP devices on your network. Its easy to set up and use. One feature this player has that no others have, is the ability to sort songs by the track number in the ID3 tag in folder view. Most players just sort them alphabetically. My only complaint with this app is that it is buggy when running in the background. About a third of the time tracks dont advance when the app is running in the background. Even when bringing it to the foreground, the music wont play unless you kill the app and restart.

Absolute Gold!

Great App, works like a charm. Gets supported by developer. Latest UI update is awesome. Works without any hassles with my DLNA server. Def. worth purchasing, 5 Stars!

Awesome Improvement!

Was using since 1 year initially working fine and later become worst and thought of rid of this app and again tried today great suprise and complete new look working great! My Primary DLNA app! Thank You!

Love it!!!!

Exactly what I was looking for. The new interface is perfect!

Crashes after opening it -- iOS 9

Crashes after opening it. it worked fine earlier, but not anymore. Open and crashes.

Yeah, it looks prettier(?) but....

Ive been a long time user and reluctant fan of this app for several years now. Ill concede that Ive strayed over that time, but I keep coming back. Hoping. I have a very large music collection (5k LPs-20k CDs, around 14TBs of digitized music total). First, I do appreciate the DLNA improvements and other similar enhancements, unfortunately those are not whats front and center for users. Ill just say it, the new interface is atrocious. - icons are way too large, at least for my tastes. Perhaps provide an option for S M L? - navigating MediaMonkey directories is painful, almost literally. You select server, then MediaMonkey (or other DLNA), then artist or location, or album, etc., then you go in again from there and so on... Now, the journey there is not bad at all, but getting back? Warm up your wrist and fingers. You have to swipe back once for each layer deep you went in. Cumbersome to say the least. - album/track selection interface suffers dramatically in that you are only presented with the cover art and title. Wheres the artist? Album name? Option for detail view vs cover art? Why not provide options for displaying or hiding tagged metadata? This isnt as big of an issue when finding a song on an album, but from a playlist its a complete nightmare. These are but a few of the frustrations with the interface. There are soooooo many new features that Ive been hoping to see for years but instead you decide to focus on an interface update? I dont get it, unless the new interface is required for these elusive items on said wish list. perhaps? One can hope. I really do like this app and I love its potential. Heres to hoping we live to see it one day.

Still the best

Ive tried other players that came out after this and deleted so many of them. The others I havent deleted have nicer icons. But theyll get trashed when spring cleaning comes round just like the rest. While this will stick around.

NAS Crash City

This app doesnt work with a NAS. It would not self-discover my Synology NAS so I had to enter the url. Once I entered the url every time I click on "servers" to connect to the NAS the app crashes. I then bought FileBrowser which is awesome - it self discovers and works perfectly for using any type of file (movies, docs, songs, pics, etc) stored on my NAS and is really easy, convenient and fast. I deleted this absolutely useless 8player app from my device and I am going to demand a refund (not sure how to do this on iOS app store but I will find out!).
