This app is unmanageable. It stops, hangs, crashed on its own. The features appear to be good, but most of them are unstable. Unless the developer fixes the bugs, its a loss and a waste of money and should be reported to google and iTunes.

Bad design, with icon takes too much space, cannot show full file name. Useless now.
I love this app is awesome, I can see my movies and music from this app. Love it!!!!!
Used to be the best. Now it no longer connects to server or HDD recorder.
I have downloaded and tested every other player out there but this seems to have the best integration and feature set. Its not perfect, unfortunately, but it is the best as of right now. It allows you to stream multimedia from your NAS and has a neat sorting system. The interface is a little too flashy, I liked the older style better, but its still usable. One request I would like to make is to add better sorting support to downloaded content, the stuff on the phone, so if I say download this folder, make it download a folder, not just all the files within the folder. All in all, solid tool that Ive been using for over 2 years.
The lite version did everything I wanted. Worked from load. The only issue I have is when it cant render a video it bails instead of throwing an error message. Makes it hard to know what is wrong.
XCELLENT PLAYER.. I USE IT 4 MY SEAGATE WIRELESS DEVICE ..&.. IT WORKED AMAZINGLY ..IM A TRUCK DRVR .. I STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE LIMITED APP THAT COMES WITH MY DEVICE ..& 8PLAYER CAME 2 MY RESCUE 4 ONLY 6BUKS ..THANK U ; ) Ja.. .....ALL I WISHED..IS.. IT CUD HAVE PLAYED AUDIO BOOKS.. DIS IS DA ONLY DOWN FALL..
Im currently using 8player with a Serviio server running on a Mint Linux box. 8player does an excellent job. Also, use as a remote for Samsung smart TV as a remote control for music and movies. The only complaint I would have is the search function, not sure if this is Serviio or 8player but I never seems to be able to search songs or movies. Have to admit that I never use the photo option, only music and movies. Overall a good product well worth the cost.
It say you can load your files and play your video from your phone/ ipad and stream to supported media device( my case sony) but the app wont load my files on my device to play them. Nothing. I lost $5 and did not even get to use it at all. I think its scam.
Works great with xbmc/openelec on raspberry pi with external hd. Hope they keep the updates coming!
Downloaded the lite version but after previewing my videos it wouldnt allow me to play any of the videos. So had to buy the full version in order to watch them. For $4.99, it better let me watch the videos with no limitations!!
I had to change my review, after the last update it didnt work. I found I had to restart my server. Now its better
Im using 8player to play my audio/video files from my Synology NAS drive (running Synologys embedded DLNA media server) to my Oppo bdp-105 blu-ray/media player, and this app works flawlessly. I can keep my tv and my laptop off while playing music. This is one great DLNA, media streaming IOS app!
I specifically bought this app so I could stream 1080p .MKV files to my ipad, the description claims .MKV files are supported. Some key audio codecs are missing from this claim. These guys definitely need to step it up, they are the highest rated media server app on the App Store from what I see, yet there are major holes in the codecs they provide. Looking forward to a fix...
Unless the lite version plays every file that you want do not bother with the full version, as it is a waste of money
I use this to play and control content from my Netgear Stora. Would be perfect if I could sent the output to my Chromecast.
Works really well with my media server, iPhone, ipad and apple tv. I can sit at a sofa and use my iPhone to throw from the server video, pic or music to my tv.
So far, most videos (90%) return a message that the audio isnt available. The videos are home made and on several devices so it isnt a licensing problem. The audio works in other players. Photos: every photo album has two of each photo listed and displays two of each photo when viewing the photos manually or in show view. This is an 8player problem as the directory on My Cloud is correct and photos display properly in WDPhoto program.
As for playing music from 45,000+ music Library 8Player does it very Well! This App is easy to set and use. Other DLNA Apps have some 8Player features but not all. I use an Asus Dark Knight w/DLNA with Large Data BASE Of my music. And it works very well indeed.
Sorry I know it takes allot of effort and time to build aps But not a single thing works Here :(
