I spent the money hoping the full version would play my mkv files, and it doesnt. Says the audio decoder is unavailable. Dont bother trying to use this to play media files.

This app is the best, most consistent, feature-filled app for streaming media from a NAS, hands down. Others either dont have upnp support at all, dont recognize my server, or do little more than allow me to find individual files. 8 player does all of these things, allowing me to control all my media from anywhere, easily and quickly. Keep up the good work!

When I bought the app, it was great and played everything. As other users have noted, the author keeps removing codecs, and now the app plays next to nothing. The next thing to be removed, from my point of view, is this app, from my ipad.

This app keeps downgrading by losing codec because of license problems

I paid for this app because it had a comprehensive list of codecs. With every new release the author removes one or two codecs. I was hoping that the author used the money he made out of the app to pay for the codecs.

In the past I would have given this app 4 or 5 stars, but with the author removing codecs, and not specifying which are removed, Im giving it 3 stars.

Seems like with every release an additional codec is dumped so some formats can not be played. Maybe time to dump this.

I wanted it to do. I uploaded my mp3s to my NAS-storage and now I can access these files easily with this app! Thank you for your great work! Keep it up!

Ive never seen worse UPnP playback.

Constant FC and freezes when playing video. Update. It now plays videos very well. It stutters with some HD videos but not others. All formated the same, mp4. Picture slideshow is okay, but it wont let me search in subfolders. And trying to list all photos causes the app to force close. I have over 200,000 photos. It will only list 30,000 before FC. I have found an app that allows me to do what I need though. Wish it was this one. The music player is the best Ive found.

There are a ton of DLNA/UPNP apps out that handle video well, but few that do audio well. This app excels here. Navigation is fluid, audio continues in the background, and folders play continuously by default. The UI is gorgeous a well.

Slow and crashes after last update. Using IOS7 and it now does not work as smoothly as it did before.

Looked and looked for a decent player to run my music from a WD MyCloud NAS to the iPad. This player runs it and my Windows Media Server well. Has ability to create its own playlists to play song combinations from any server source. Has nice looking browser. Easy and intuitive to use (for my wife).

I use this app to check up on my media server. Works like it said it would.

It works with every type of dlna, it supports external dlna, it supports cover art, it supports custom sorting, what more could you ask for?

This app frequently loses contact with the server, and there does not appear to be any way to fix that. There are also several file types that it cannot play. Finally, updates are relatively rare, and it looks like the improvement of this app has largely been abandoned by the developer. Best possible improvement would be the addition of chrome cast

Ive been very happy with this app. Simple way to stream video from my miniDLNA server. One request though. I would be nice to have a quick forward or back button simialr to those in the Postcast app.

Well maintained by the developer and very reliable.

Automatically skips out all of the possible surfers on your network, also a lot of searching, also allows you to browse my folder which is huge if you have a really large MP3 collection.

It does not support common audio codec used by HDHomeRun Extend. Dont waste your money on this junk!
